Get that Monday feeling…

Posted by Arsenal Hampshire in Daily Column

Oh well, as it happens, Utd never did turn the result around against Blackburn on Saturday evening, and as a direct result, i lost a bloody fiver! (goddamn you 20-1 odds of a united win with 5 mins left!!!!). Is it just me that feels like the Chelsea result against Wigan and then the Utd result at the weekend feels very similar to when you were a lad and having a big kid kicking you square in the balls and running of screaming nah nah, nah nah nah, knowing full well there is nothing you can do about it as he told you earlier that “his dad is bigger than your dad” - Life is unfair, and all us gooners are more than aware of that fact…

Anyway - Back to business. Arsene Wenger has given Matty Flamini til the end of the month to decide what he is doing with his future (i make that 9 days left). Now, anyone that has spent longer than 5 seconds within a 2 mile radius of me will be well aware of my love for the flamster and i think after the season we have just experienced, it would be a huge loss to the team if we fail to keep him in the close season. He has said in the past that he would love to stay with the Arsenal, but he was unable to sort out his contract as he was focusing on playing instead. Well, your currently out injured my little french fella, so if you wouldnt mind putting pen to paper, it would help me sleep at night!

Arsene is also praising young Theo Walcott today describing him as a “man, but not a monster”. OK, its a weird comparison, but it sure beats Mourinho’s “I have supermarket eggs” outburst. Theo has improved vastly this season, when he gets the chance, unfortunately, le boss, seems to prefer Ebuseless ahead of him, but hopefully next season we will see Theo gain his rightful place on the errr, right side of midfield.

Gilberto has spoken out over his future saying he would love to stay with Arsenal and that he will speak with Wenger at the end of the season. Now, i know Bert hasnt been first XI choice this season, but what a great professional he is! He was quite harshly passed over for the captaincy (some sources saying he found out through arsenal.com), now he can hardly get a start for the Arsenal, playing not much more than a bit part role in our season campaign and yet still shows himself as a man full of respect. Maybe Diarra should take note!!! I will say that bert is definately not the player he was, and asked if i would want him at Arsenal next year i would think long and hard and probably say yes, but one thing Wenger seems very good at is knowing when a player is past it (i think he messed up with Bobby “my puma’s” Pires though!!!). If Arsene decides his times up, i will wish him well - afterall, he is a world cup winner.

News from within the club (Arsenal Hampshire - not AFC) is pretty quiet at the moment, but i will try to get an update in the next few days for us all. Im sure the powers that be are currently barracaded in a underground bomb shelter planning the end of season party and the AGM - which over the last few years has proved quite eventful!!!

Until next time Arse-fans

They think it’s all over!!!

As another season draws to the close, most Arsenal fans are left feeling very disappointed at the drastic demise in our form from the glorious period we experienced up until January, and then the form that plagued us from February onwards. Ask 100 fans what went wrong and you get 100 different responses. I though, am staying postive!! OK, it may be lack of sleep, but it isnt over until the fat lady sings!! I seem to be the only person that has remembered that if Man Utd and Chavski lose every game from now until the end of the season, with exception of the game in which they play each other in which they draw!, and we continue to pick up maximum points, we win the league by a 2 point landslide! Hey, its still mathmatically possible…..

Today saw us get back to winning ways at home with a very comfortable 2-0 victory over a struggling Reading. I think the score complimented them more than it did us, what with the fact that we averaged a corner nearly every 4 minutes in the first half! We took the lead after a great first touch from Adebayor took him past the defender and he calmly placed the ball past Marcus Hahnemann. The second came from a long range Gilberto effort, that took a wicked deflection off the laclustre Reading defence, before beating the outstretched palm of the keeper. It could have been so many more… RVP hit the upright with a rocket of a free-kick, Theo hit the bar with a left footed effort from about 12 yards and Adebayor and Song both missed the target with quite simple headers created during 2 of our set pieces awarded during the game. Once again though (and as much as id love to see my above theory come true) it would strike me as being too little, too late. But either way, its good to get back to winning ways and see the season out in style.

News is coming out of the club thick and fast at the moment, and i will cover most of it over the coming days. Obviously we can now look forward to being linked with the world and his wife as the transfer window draws ever closer. Wenger has said that he is after 2 “real quality” players, you can read the article here. I would hope it is a few more than 2 as i wouldnt tar many of our current squad with the same “Real Quality Player” brush.

Anyway, thats your lot for today. I wish everyone a nice weekend, whatever your up too. At this moment in time Utd are losing 1-0 to Blackburn and i cant help but hope Utd turn it around as i would hate to see a certain money grabbing Arsenal reject getting his grubby little mits on the Premiership Crown.

 Until next time Arse-fans……
